image for Police Investigate Audacious Theft Of Queen's Handbag
It's ever such a long ceremony

Police from Scotland Yard are investigating the theft of Her Majesty the Queen's handbag which was taken whilst the monarch was attending the Trooping the Colour on Saturday morning.

It's thought that Her Royal Highness may have fallen asleep during the very long and boring ceremony, which is part of Britain's rich tradition.

Police are studying video CCTV footage of the event in an attempt to discover how the audacious theft was carried out, but, so far, none of the officers detailed to review the film have managed to stay awake long enough.

Detective Jack Horner of the Yard told reporters that it was vitally important that the handbag, containing the Queen's lipstick, lottery numbers and a list of international hitmen, was recovered and returned to its rightful owner as soon as possible.

"We've put out an alert to all stolen goods dealers and charity shops", he said.
