As part of the government's relentless plan to snoop on people 24 hours a day, news is emerging about a leaked memo that will see all of us being fitted with microchips if new proposed legislation is passed.
According to a source close to Westminster, from June 2012 all residents in the UK will be fitted with a tracker device, a bit like the one popular with pedigree dog owners, that will be linked to a government central computer. Home Secretary John Reid told us:
"We see this as a very positive step indeed. And of course this is a measure that's not designed to snoop on people. It will just help with our people management systems and allow us to have a more organised society.
Anybody who is doing nothing wrong has nothing to worry about here. This is a system that will benefit us all. The only people exempt from the system will be senior politicians and this will of course be for security reasons"
Anybody who is unduly worried by this prospect should not lose too much sleep though, as if this is handled like any other government implemented computer based scheme, then it will be scrapped after billions has first been wasted on trials.
