'Ahoy There!' - the new adventure board game, has just been released. Designed for 4 - 8 players, a the purpose of the game is to navigate one's way around the Atlantic Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea, from port to port, collecting different varieties of fish.
Captain Benjamin 'Boll-Weevil' Tonkin - the designer of the game - drew on his experience of sailing to create the rules. 'Life was a bit boring after I retired from the high seas,' he explained, 'and then one evening, I was sitting, drinking a jar of ale down at The Old Rope & Anchor pub on the clifftops, and I was suddenly struck with the idea.'
That same week, and for the following months, Benjamin crafted the various pieces of the game in his shed. Instead of traditional counters, players can 'sail' around the seas in a traditional fishing boat, a schooner, a junk, a longboat, or a clipper. The winner is the first to collect several varieties of fish, having visited each port. Of course, there are storms, hurricanes, and fishing shortages to deal with - as well as giant octopuses, and vicious mermaids.
The game has already sold well across the UK. 'It looks as if it has really made me a good net profit,' said Benjamin, with a laugh. 'Anyone who wants any tips on playing - just drop me a line!'
