A waitress in a London restaurant has recently broken records for the amount of tips received by a single employee.
Rebecca Taylor put her recent success down to the fact she now laughs at all of her customer's awful jokes.
"When I first started, you'd always find people display the most dreadfully embarrassing sense of humour. I'd have guys order a vodka martini with a sly grin and want them 'shaken, not stirred.' There were some American tourists in here the other day who ordered everything in an overly exaggerated Victorian era British accent. Of course I had to laugh and applauded their pathetic efforts, but a part of me died inside."
Taylor's reputation in the restaurant community is gathering steam, and has led to high recognition by her manager, who this correspondent also had time to sit down with.
"Rebecca is just a star employee. There are times where a customer's sense of humour is so horrendous that I want to punch them for repeating tired old cliches and shockingly bad jokes. Rebecca will laugh regardless of how terrible they are".
Taylor's final customer of the day was a family of four, who when presented with the bill pointed at their two young children and said "They're paying", before bursting into laughter. Taylor joined in with her phony chuckle and complimented the parents on their original sense of humour, despite hearing the same joke 9 times this week. The parents left her a 60% tip.
