As part of the BBC's new entertainment strategy Director General Tony Hall is due to announce a new Saturday Night game show called 'The Electric Chair' in an attempt to finally knock Simon Cowell off his evangelical perch. The show due to be aired in the autumn of 2016, will feature 'ageing stars' being 'put through their paces', before a dramatic final 'public' vote which will decide who will appear in 'The Electric Chair'.

The format, a hybrid of ITV1's 'Ejector Seat' and the BBC's 'The Voice' was commissioned by Tony Hall himself, a show format he first spotted whilst visiting channel executives in Japan.

The original format called 'Ukubulala Bastards' loosely translated meaning 'Hurt Them' featured contestants suffering up to 1,000 volts of electricity pumped into 'foreign' brains.

New show host and 'One Show' favourite Matt Baker explained "Of course we won't be pumping that much electricity into our celebrities, however enough electricity will be used to permanently disable stars such as Theo Paphitis. We are experimenting with about 500 volts at present, we did loose an elderly farmer from Dorset called Tom, when we were testing the system, but he was diagnosed with deep depression prior to rehearsals, as he'd lost a herd of rare cows in this years terrible winter". Matt continued, "It's been an awful winter for our British farmers, an ex-neighbour of mine shot himself in the head earlier this year, the pressure really got to him, luckily he missed and the bullet ricocheted into a badgers bottom".

Stars rumoured to appear in 'The Electric Chair' include, Jeremy Clarkson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sue Barker, and of course fan favourite Sir Cliff Richard. Top chef Michelle Roux Junior has been approached to create a menu of 'last meals'.

We asked Matt Baker, what his chosen meal would be, "For me, it has to be Fried Chicken Breasts, Buttered Peas, German Chocolate Cake and a Dr. Pepper". Great choice Matt!

Full recipes of star's last requests will be available for download from the BBC website when the programme is due to air.
