image for Grand National Ladies Day Cage Fighting Halted - Riots After Hub Cap Throwing Event
Liver Wrestlers

Aintree Ladies Day turned into an unexpected handbag free for all yesterday after the Women's Cage Fighting Competition was halted.

The trouble started after one contestant was disqualified for using a weighted handbag.

Betting was suspended on the Ladies Hubcap Removal Challenge after pre removed hubcaps were found in a contestant's car.

The Ladies' Freestyle hubcap throwing event ended in riots after sharpened hubcaps were confiscated.

The rest of the day went as expected after the shotz and wheelbarrow race stakes was won by a 100 - 1 outsider.

The Stolen Car handicap was won by the 2nd favourite, Liver Slag after two "falsie" starts.
