Time to dig up the Mountbattens' back yard?

London - (Associated Mess): Police investigating some of the most puzzling unsolved crimes of the 20th century want to obtain a warrant to dig up the back garden at Buckingham Palace following surprising new leads in the Lord Lucan disappearance mystery.

The move comes after the Inland Revenue's lengthy probes into Prince Charles's financial arrangements sparked a connecting link between the missing Peer and other memorable vanishing acts - including that of the 1981 Epsom Derby winner Shergar, just weeks before the Pretender to the Throne's Royal Wedding to Lady Diana Spencer.

A spate of recent leads provided by the CIA's international fraud division has also joined some of the dots to the billions of dollars missing from Saddam Hussain's Oil-For-Fraud scheme.

Charles's inability to explain recent meteoric Duchy of Cornwall accounts' "surpluses" may help the taxman to get a spade and shovel warrant to dig even deeper into House of Mountbatten secrets protected since 2001 by the Bush Administration's outreach office in No 10 Downing Street.
