Following David Beckham's announcement that he intends to quit the LA Galaxy at the end of the MLS season for a 'new challenge' speculation has been rife as to what the new challenge may be.
It was previously thought that he would be heading out to play in the Australian League, however we can today sensationally reveal that Becks is being lined up to take over from the disillusioned Jeremy Paxman as lead anchor on the BBC's flagship news programme Newsnight which over the last few weeks has seen its reputation take a battering.
We managed to speak with a top level BBC representative, who wished to remain anonymous at this stage, about this breaking story. He confirmed that 'Goldenballs' was their number once choice to front the ailing news show due to the fact "David Beckham has never once, to our knowledge, made a serious misjudgement in relation to an editorial decision".
When it was pointed out that it was unlikely that the multi tattooed Beckham had ever actually made any editorial decisions at all, our source from the BBC shrugged and said "we are confident David will make the right decisions when the time arises, if you cant trust a man who married a Spice Girl and has named one of his children Cruz then who can you trust?"
When he takes over the job one of the numerous hurdles Becks will have to get over is convincing the viewers that when it comes to Politics he is impartial given the fact he has spent much of career on the right wing.
