Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osbourne was caught traveling first class on a standard ticket. He politely asked the ticket inspector if he know who he was, and told the ticket inspector that as Chancellor it was him who would decide inspectors next pay raise. He then took out his silver badge but had to pay the fine and the upgrade.
In an attempt to put a good spin on the incident a No11 spokesman said "George did the right thing. He belittled the man who was accusing him and gently pointed out that the man was socially inferior. But unlike Andy Mitchell he didn't shout and swear or call the man a pleb. George of course knows that one phone call to a chum will get the inspector fired. In fact George has made that call."
With in an hour of this incident Andrew Mitchell resigned as Chief Whip when he realized that throwing a tantrum like a two year old wasn't the right way to go about things.
The Chancellor himself told the BBC this morning "I wanted to sit in the nice seats on the Choo Choo. Then a nasty man tried to tell me to sit with the unwashed people I sure made he knew I could get him sacked but he wouldn't budge. I had to pay a fine. I was upset but Dave and I were able to take out the frustrations of a bad day by having Nick and Vince mud wrestle naked in the back yard for us."
The ticket inspector has mysteriously vanished.
