Cat's across the United Kingdom are licking their paws and purring with culinary satisfaction after an Ipswich man's new cat food recipe was added to pet food manufacturers stock lists and is now available on supermarket shelves the length and breadth of Britain.
Doug Whalley stumbled on the idea of producing mouse flavoured cat food after his cat, Charlie, expressed a preference for the rodent based delicacy after Doug noticed that Charlie would not only catch and eat mice, but would often regurgitate them and then re-eat them.
"I thought wait a minute" explained Doug "Cat's love to eat mice, so why not give them what they want?"
Over a period of several days Doug laid traps and caught eight mice, which he then put into his food blender, adding flour to thicken the mixture. Hey presto….mouse flavoured cat food was born.
"I just poured the mixture into Charlie's bowl and he lapped it up. He loved it. So I contacted a few companies and the next thing I knew....they were mass producing it!"
This rags to riches story doesn't end there though.
Doug is working on other ideas, including sparrow flavoured cat food, cat flavoured dog food and his most daring concept yet, worm flavoured bird food.
"All you need is a food blender and a strong stomach" smiled Doug as he aimed his air rifle towards a nearby tree.
