Back to Old Fashioned Banking Urged

Culture Secretary, Jeremy Hunt has spoken up for the whole Government in expressing admiration for the Chairman of Barclays, Marcus Agonise, over his decision to resign over the fiddling of interest rates by the Bank.

'He was the one in charge' declared Hunt 'and he has rightly taken responsibility for the offences of those under him. If only everyone in positions of responsibility would act so admirably.'

Meanwhile MI5 are placing spies into top Banks in order to discover where the next disaster might occur. Spies have been taken off their undercover work with environmental groups and are being given identities so that they can be taken on at Top Banks.

'We can't allow this unruly bunch of Bankers to subvert the whole nation' said the MI5 chief in a rare television interview 'no one is above the law, except us of course'.

With rising pressure from a furious electorate George Osborne is also taking on the Banks with a vigourious enquiry. 'How did you get away with it?' he is likely to ask.
