As the parched land threatens to engulf Britain into a drought to beat all drought, the Government has received help from the Young People of Britain.
Their leader Joe Smelly (16) has pledged not to wash until the crisis is over. Young people in droves are following Smelly and will not have a shower a bath or drink water until it rains heavily for a fortnight.
Smelly has issued his manifesto which begins: 'For too long young people have been seen as lacking patriotic fervour. We are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Games by saving water.'
The Queen has let it be known that she is overjoyed by Smelly's selfless campaign, which is spreading like wildfire through schools and colleges across the nation.
An Eton schoolboy, always called Stinker by his fellow pupils, has shocked his parents by stripping in public to demonstrate that he has not had a wash for several months.
Deaths are feared as an over powering smell drifts over the British countryside.
