London - "Next they'll be changing the name from Phoenix Road to Goosestep Avenue," weary Somers Town resident Mrs Mavis Bin Lina told reporters at lunchtime today.
Her protest comes amid news that CCTV cameras bark "Keep off zee grass!" and play 'Deutschland, Deutschland über alles' at unsuspecting visitors to Walker House in the Socialist People's Democratic Republic of Camden.
The catchy surveillance system is all the rage at the local Town Hall with proposals for the innovative take on monitored hospitality greetings to be rolled out at national level.
The Somers Town loudspeakers are attached to CCTV cameras and make first contact with a pre-recorded message of 'Stop, zees eez a restricted area and your photograph eez being taken'.
Next the tough warning is followed up with 'It vill be sent for processing if you don't leave zee area now'.
Mrs Bin Lina reckons "It's only one small step away from 'YOU vill then be sent for processing, heheh!' to some dire Council facility for non-compliance of direct orders."
The borough is notorious for its trendy leftie nutz whose links to the Third Reich are only second to those of Buckingham Palace.
Last year official snooping by the Labour-led administration authorised over 20,000 acts of covert surveillance under the ludicrous Regulation of Investigative Powers Act - RIPA - that pries into citizens' everyday lives.
The latest development is part of the Council's transparency and equality policy which insults ALL residents without fear or favor - including residents of the benighted Walker House block.
The apartment building's name may now be changed to Goebbels House.
