Derek Acoras dream of representing GB at this years Olympic Games hit a stumbling block yesterday as he was banned with immediate effect from all competitions.
An inquiry will be now be launched into how the 61 year old was able to smash Mike Powell's long standing record of 8.95m which has stood for over 20 years by almost 145ft.
A spokesman who witnessed the qualifying jump said: "I saw Derek's runway approach and thought to myself that it looked rather sluggish. He then took off as if he had sprouted wings and just kept going.
"I actually thought at one point that he was about to jump out of the stadium! Obviously this is something that must be investigated and given Derek's links to the spirit world, we must consider every possibility into how Derek has achieved such a jump!"
Derek himself was unavailable for comment yesterday, although a spokesman for his stable said "people just don't realise just how good or naturally athletic Derek really is."
