With the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona looking increasingly likely, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been holding talks with former Danish international Jan Molby, as he becomes increasingly desperate to shore up the Arsenal midfield, and give the team some backbone.
Molby, who was renowned for being a somewhat overweight midfield powerhouse with a Scouse accent when he played for Liverpool, now runs a pie shop in Copenhagen, but may be tempted to come out of retirement to play for the Gunners, providing the price is right and Wenger has lost none of his powers of persuasion.
Arsenal insiders appear quite excited that the club may be enlisting the services of the chunky, lumbering Dane, and seem to regard him as a welcome addition to the squad.
So far, the only fly in the ointment appears to be that Molby has apparently refused to play against his former club, Liverpool and is insisting upon the inclusion of such a clause in his contract.
Sources close to the player are saying that the refusal to play against Liverpool clause has nothing to do with longstanding loyalty to his former employers, but the reality is that the pie-scoffing Dane doesn't want his Scouse accent to get more pronounced.
More as we get it.
