Ryan Giggs, Manchester United's publicity shy, midfield-maestro and all round legend, has been offered a lifeline out of Old Trafford, by none other than Spurs boss, Harry Redknapp.
It is believed that Redknapp feels that now is the time for Giggs to break away from the club he joined as a boy, and get away from all the negative publicity in Manchester.
Redknapp was overheard recently in a pie n mash shop, expressing his admiration for Giggs, and marvelling at the way he can still keep going at the highest level, at the age of 37. In closing, Redknapp allegedly said that he believes Giggs is good for another season, maybe even two.
When SSN contacted Harry, he told us:
"I've always been a big fan of Giggsy, and I feel that the time is right for him to get out of the northern goldfish bowl that is Manchester, and come down the smoke to join up wiv the lads. He'd slot right in alongside our other new signings, Fabregas and Iniesta, and I'm sure it wouldn't be long before he builds up a raport with Messi up front. If anybody knows where Giggsy is, tell him to give us a bell on the dog and bone and we'll work something aht."
It isn't known at this point whether or not Giggs took Harry up on the offer. Sources relate that Giggs has been spending a lot of time recently in deep, hushed conversation with Dimitar Berbatov and Nani.
More as we get it.
