Celtic manager Neil Lennon has shocked Scottish football by handing in his resignation just minutes after the Parkhead club defeated Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final.
The former Northern Ireland international is understood to have received an "unbelievably lucrative offer" to become the new chief executive of Royal Mail.
Over the last few months a number of suspicious packages intended for Lennon have been intercepted by postal staff and , in the course of discussions with the Royal Mail , the Celtic boss has acquired considerable knowledge of the business. Sources report that he has suggested a number of improvements that have already been incorporated into current mailing procedures.
Royal Mail executives have been so impressed by his input, enthusiasm and organisational skills that they have offered him the post recently vacated by Canadian Moya Greene.
Lennon is expected to start in his new job on Monday week , assuming of course his written acceptance arrives at Royal Mail HQ in time.
