image for Metropolitan Police: West Ham Utd players showed more fighting 'spirit' at their party, than during matches!
West Ham players used the tables and chairs as part of their 'training' at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane

Park Lane, LONDON: Metropolitan Police report that West Ham Utd players showed more fighting 'spirit' at their end of season party, than they have all of the football season.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We were called at 9.15pm to reports of a disturbance at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane. Officers attended. There were no offences alleged and no arrests."

According to reports, the trouble started when a striker Demba Ba allegedly refused to sign an autograph for a fan, saying that he was "too tired'', and his comments sparked a brawl, where tables and chairs were over turned.

Supporters were invited to the £275-a-head dinner, which was attended by players and executives. Unofficial Police quotes attributed to the event from an unnamed source.

"West Ham Utd players showed more fighting 'spirit' at their end of season party, than they have all of the football season"

It is rumoured that after the brawl, Members of Scotland Yard went to Ladbrokes as part of their enquiries and were asking what the odds were on West Ham Utd being promoted next year from the Championship!!
