Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson declared himself a "relieved man " after his big gamble paid off as the club cruised through to the Champions League Final at Wembley at the end of the month.
Fergie, at the grand old age of 70, still has the capacity to surprise and last night was no different when he made the "biggest call of my life" by dumping his favourite chewing gum Wrigley Spearmint Classic for the new kid on the block Orbit Freshmint.
"This could have upset the whole evening. Any slight change to the club's routine can have disastrous consequences and my decision to change the chewing gum of choice was no different.
But, when the lads in the dressing room saw what I was away to pop in my mouth and they all smiled supportively, I knew that they would be able to handle it and everything would work out alright", enthused a clearly delighted Sir Alex.
But the beaming Scotsman has firmly ruled out any more earth shattering decisions in the run up to the final.
