image for Messi Wants Move To Old Firm

Hot on the heels of his stunning performance in the 2-0 defeat of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, Lionel Messi has shocked the world of soccer by announcing that he would like to leave the mighty Bareclona and play for one of the Old Firm clubs.

The Argentinian genius, widely acknowledged as the greatest player of all time , admitted to the world press last night that he has always harboured a secret desire to wear the green or blue of Celtic or Rangers.

"I love playing for Barcelona, they brought me here as a raw 13 year old and taught me everything about the great game", Messi said.

"I will always be grateful for what they have done for me but I firmly believe that, if I am to fulfill my destiny of becoming the ultimate player, I must complete my football education in Glasgow, the home of world football.

As a result, I have tonight tendered a transfer request and can now confirm that I am available for offers from either of the Old Firm giants".

The Spanish football authorities have launched an immediate investigation into how Messi's mental health issues did not come to light until now.
