image for Drogba In Talks Over Future - United Set To Pounce
Wrong Caption!

Didier Drogba's agents are to hold talks with Chelsea officials this week in order to determine whether the powerful Ivorean striker has a future at Stamford Bridge or not.

The 33 year old currently has a year remaining on his contract with the club, but is said to have reservations about playing second fiddle to an anaemic, blank firing £50 million Spaniard who can't be named here for legal reasons, but which translated into English, means: Towers.

The situation is being closely monitored by Manchester United, who are said to be keen to snap up the player at a bargain bin price, and who have been impressed by his fortitude and mental strength in his handling of what appears to be 'not a great situation' at the Bridge.

Drogba will undoubtedly arouse interest in other quarters - notably Turkey, where Galatasaray seem keen, and Milan, who specialise in rejuvenating the careers of more senior players. (Eight of Milan's current first team squad are bus-pass carriers.)

But sources think that Drogba would prefer to remain in the Premiership, and preferably with a top outfit capable of mauling Chelsea on a regular basis, or in other words, making Roman Abramovich eat shit.

Manchester United certainly appear to fit the bill perfectly, and with Dimitar Berbatov possibly moving to La Liga with Seville in the summer, and Sir Alex Ferguson a confirmed fan, speculation is rife that the true blue will conclude his top flight football career as a confirmed red.

Or possibly something completely different.

Nobody really knows. Apart from the Drog himself. And he isn't saying.
