With the Chinese Olympic team deciding to use Leeds, The USA team East London and the Jamaican track and field team using Birmingham prior to the 2012 Olympics, the Irish Olympic squad have announced details of where they plan to spend their practice time before the commencement of the games.
The spokesman for the Irish Olympic squad, Rick O'Shea, said that the members of the heading the shot, catching the javelin and underwater badminton teams intend to move to Palermo in Scicily prior to the games.
He said that the weather, combined with the oilve oil and the nice girls in the Bertolli pasta sauce advertisements would be of great benefit to the morale of the team. Also, the Irish Olympic Squad have loads of Air Miles they have to use up before June 2012.
Admitting that being some 1700 miles from the main Olympic sites might cause a bit of an inconvenience, Mr O'Shea said that his "lads will get used to it, to be sure" and asked "what's a few hundred miles between games, sleeping and meals, to be sure".
