The morals of Premiership footballers hit a new low today as both Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez demanded either a transfer or a wage increase.
The justification of both players was based around the VAT increase taking place in January as the UK moves from a tax rate of 17.5% to a new level of 20%.
A spokesman for Tevez explained that the main issue is that the Manchester City player will soon struggle to heat his house with the new increase.
"Carlos uses a heating system combining gas, and the burning of fifty pound notes"."With the unreasonable 'hike' in gas costs he will struggle and as such, we are seeking compensation or the ability to move to a warmer climate."
Tevez is rumoured to have demanded a 30% increase.
Furthermore Wayne Rooney is believed to be poised for financial trouble should the VAT prices apply to prostitution.
