Aston Villa have this evening confirmed that midfield maestro Stephen Ireland has agreed to play in this weekends fixture against Liverpool.

The Villa spokesman went on to state that as the Villa fixture doesn't clash with any soap omnibuses Ireland has shown his commitment to the club by agreeing to play.

This news follows Gerrard Houllier's recent announcement that Ireland would not feature in any games or attend any training sessions during the week Coronation Street celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Ireland is a known Soap fan and during his time at Manchester City, once used a days holiday to go an appear as an extra in Doctors.

The midfielder has struggled for form since moving to the midlands based club, but with the Christmas storylines in the soaps coming up, fans are anticipating a boost in his performances.

Make Mr Spinks's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
