Helsinki, Finland-Carl Froch was declared the winner by unanimous decision in the last Group Stage 3 fight of Showtime's Super Six World Boxing Classic on Saturday. In a post-fight interview, Abraham stated that everything was going according to plan in the first half of the fight when nothing happened, but kind of fell apart in the second half when nothing happened.
"It didn't work today," the German-based Armenian fighter explained. "I kept aiming for the back of his head, but he just wouldn't turn around."
Froch, whose girlfriend Rachael Cordingley spent the evening shouting obscenities over Antonio Tarver's head or, "commentating" as it's known in the sport, said that he felt his style has improved since his bout with former Super Foxyweight Champion Mikkel Kessler.
"Yeah I won that foight, but I definitely, definitely won this foight," said the Nottingham native. "The old me would've gotten into a bit of a brawl with Abraham, but you know, I controlled myself and only hit him in the crotch a couple of times. I couldn't help it; it was like there was a big red target painted on the front of his pants. Come to think of it, there was a big red target on the front of his pants. Well, that's what you get for wearing white; I think he does it on purpose."
In a related story, Andre Ward beat Sakio Bika in a non-tournament fight by using his head, shoulders, knees and toes (knees and toes). Bika responded to the defeat by stating "Mu mu mu mu bu bu bu bu, mu mu mu mu".
