Los Angeles----The seats at the staples centre might become a little less full, now that star player Kobe Bryant has gone down with a season ending injury.
The atmosphere in the staples centre was grim as Kobe was helped to his feet during the game against. the Dallas Mavericks. It occurred with 3:23 left in the 3rd Quarter. Kobe had the ball, and was charging hard to the hoop, when all of a sudden; in what was a tragic act from god, Kobe's shoelace, became untied.
Many in the crowd noticed this as he charged to the hoop, and pleaded with him, please, look at your shoe! But it was too late, and with one big step it was all over. Kobe Bryant the man who escaped jail time last season, fell victim to something much, much worse this year. Floor Burn.
Kobe had taken a step while his lace was flailing in the air. Come time when he planted his foot, he noticed something wasn't right. He slid on the floor, never gaining his balance, and then it happened. His knee made contact with the floor. The skin of the upper part of the knee was red with irritation and it was just a nasty sight.
Many mothers in attendance, tried to cover their young children's eyes, while other people in the stands fainted. Emergency Personnel ran on to the court for immediate treatment.
Needless to say, the game was called off due to overwhelming concern to how the star player was.
We caught up with many of his teammates, in the hospitals waiting room, as they waited to hear how their fallen comrade was. We asked them what they thought of the injury and most felt, that it was just tragic, and are actually surprised he thinks he might be able to come back next season, as generally that is a career ending injury.
Late tonight, we actually got word, that after a 3 night stay in the hospital, Kobe will be released tomorrow morning, but do not get too excited. This is just part of his uphill struggle. The rehab will be brutal, as he must work this irritated skin back into game shape, in only 5 months.
Head coach says "We know he's not superman, but if any one human could pull this off, it'd be him"
Clearly, Kobe Bryant must go down in history as one of the great warriors of the game, next to Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady and Karl Malone.
