image for New Lord Triesman Scandal
A member of the Italian team in training today

The former Lord, David Triesman, the man who single-handedly derailed England's bid to stage the 2018 World Cup, has been involved in a new and even more scandalous scandal involving various comments he is alleged to have made in private to friends.

Triesman, 66, astonished a man in a pub near where he lives by telling him:

"I don't care much for German beers!"

And the disgraced ex-Lord was obviously referring to an intense hatred of France when told a neighbour:

"Your back garden resembles the Somme!"

Triesman, a Tottenham fan, completely wrecked England's hopes of staging the 2018 tournament last week when he made vile and disgusting comments towards the Spanish and Russian footballing authorities who, he alleged, were planning to cheat by bribing referees.

These comments reflect the views of millions of football fans worldwide, but Lord Triesman was made the scapegoat for airing them.

Responding to news of this latest scandal, Lord Triesman said:

"Those foreigners roll around a lot when they get tackled, don't they?"
