Snooker hotshot Graham Dott handed last nights epic World snooker final to Neil Robertson after falling asleep at what experts could only describe as "way past his bedtime". The final took an exciting twist when TV cameras picked up Dott's eyes starting to close during an undramatic clearance of 31 by Aussie whiz kid Robertson.
Match referee John Virgo was heard to call out "quiet please" several times to the audience while Dott attempted to sleep though the entire 28th Frame. However, upon the start of the next frame Virgo's attempts to wake the dour Scot were unsuccessful. Virgo was left with no alternative but to raise Robertson's hand, boxing style while his opponent lay flat out in the opposing armchair.
Barry Hearn, world snooker chairman was quoted as saying "snooker don't need this after what happened this week. I'm disappointed in Dotty. He should ave given himself a kick up the backside. It's bang out of order."
Dott's continuing slumber is now threatening the Crucible Theatre's production of Othello, due to start next week.
