George Steinbrenner and his sons, Henry and Harold, say they are tired of going through the mess that is today's New York Yankees.
"I want us out while we are at the top, having won the World Series for the first time in many years, even though we've had the biggest payroll. We're paying some players more than some teams make", George told reporters Monday.
The actual day to day running has been by George's sons, especially Hank.
"Dad's right", Hank told our reporter who was almost lost in the crowd of reporters at NYC press conference where the announcement was taking place.
The new owners? No one will say but Bill Gates has had his eye on the Yankees for a long time.
Back to Daddy Sreinbrenner.
"I haven't felt this free since the three times I fired Billy Martin. These bozos today are spoiled rotten. If I had Mantle, Maris and Yogi who loved to play baseball instead of sending me their agents, I might go on with it. But we're losing money every year and have different players every year."
"People say we bought the World Series this year. So what? It's a business folks. The only way it will be a sport again is if there is a football type ceiling on how much a team can pay their players and no more!"
Steinbrenner stated that his son Hank still loves the game but even he's tired of the Beau Brummells & demands by players that someone should wipe their asses when they're getting off the toilet.
"I was tired of baby sitting back when I turned it over to my sons! I'm glad we're out of it."
"Now let's talk football!"
