Sandwich

Portsmouth Football Club are back in trouble again as a local sandwich bar next to Fratton Park bans David James.

Lucy Pike, owner of 'Get Stuck in Sandwiches' said, "David and the other players have been regulars, but lately they have been taking sandwiches without paying - it's getting ridiculous".

Allegedly, Mr James-the Portsmouth and England Goalkeeper-owes Miss Pike £2.86 for a Tuna and Sweetcorn sandwich and a packet of Cheese and Onion Crisps and has vowed to pay her back when his receives his wages from the football club.

A spokesman for the club said, "David and the other players have not been paid for five months due to an unexpected financial inconvenience and we have assured Miss Pike she will be receive the money for the Sandwich and Crisps as soon as David is in a financial position to do so.

We asked to speak with the owner of Portsmouth FC but were told that there will be a new owner on Tuesday, Thursday and probably again next Wednesday.

Mr James who recently sold his Aston Martin for a Sinclair C5 was unavailable for comment.
