The verbal dueling continued between CBS analyst Charley Casserly and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. On Monday, Belichick had asked: "Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins?" Belichick said. "His percentage is like a meteorologist."
Casserly said today, "He's [Belichick] is still sore because a girl back in high school dumped him to go out with me. It was so long ago." Later, he added "If I have anything else to say, it'll be on Sunday's show."
When approached for comment, Belichick did not deny this version of events: "Just because Betty Sue Compisky dated that moron after she dated me has nothing to do with the fact that he spouts off his mouth without checking his facts, regarding football". "That's why he's working in the broadcast booth instead of on a team staff somewhere. Nobody is even going to hire him as an equipment boy."
This is just the latest installment in what promises to be a much more interesting football story than the last two weeks of the season were on the field, when the fans were treated to seeing their favorite teams 2nd and 3rd string players go up against the dregs of the league, and even beat them in some cases (Witness the chargers benchwarmers defeat of the hapless Redskins.)
Stay tuned for the latest installment of "Charlie stole my lunch, I'm gonna tell the teacher!" on CBS Sunday.
