Former Miami Dolphins QB Dan Marino has told reporters that he is considering changing his name after a series of embarrassing mix-ups which resulted in him becoming confused with the tiny landlocked European country of San Marino.
Marino (Dan) told CBS NFL Today host James Brown that he had received numerous visits from tourists expecting to see the sights of the delightful little Italian-type enclave with its population of just over 30,000.
"Yesterday was the fourth time this year that I've had a tour party arrive at my home, taking snapshots of me whilst I was in the bath. When they realised their error, they were very understanding, and left immediately, but it's got to stop. I didn't throw the football 61,361 yards just to get pestered by some dipshits wanting to ogle a puny European travel destination. Jesus!"
The former Dolphin was speaking from his home in Fort Lauderdale, which looks absolutely nothing like San Marino.
One of Mr Marino's close neighbours has a similar problem.
Fish fryer Winston Churchill says he regularly receives curious visitors asking him to recount his famed "Never has so much been owed by so many to so few" speech, but, of course, they are confusing him with the British Prime Minister of the same name who died in 1965.
Marino has said that he may change his name to the number 13.
