image for Benitez Faces 'Bloody Sunday' Without Stevie G
You Are The Weakest Link...Goodbye!

Looks like today is shit or bust time for Rafa Benitez as his under fire team take on Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United team at Anfield.

Without totemic inspiration Stevie Gerrard.

The Liverpool club's American owners have never been big fans of the Spaniard, or his methods, and Liverpool fans are rapidly losing the undying affection they once so vociferously professed.

Today becomes 'make or break time' for the Scouse legions, most of whom will be hoping for a similar result to the one they enjoyed earlier this year at Old Trafford. But in reality, even a win today, by a vast margin, can only be regarded as a stay of execution.

It seems so long ago when Liverpool fans gloated to whoever would listen that "We won it five times" to the tune of "I Wanna Go Home" after their dubious penalty shoot out win in Istanbul, and it also sounds so hollow.

It's NINETEEN YEARS since Liverpool won the league title under whatever guise.
NINETEEN years.

NER NER NER NER NER NINETEEN was a hit record for PAUL HARDCASTLE about that time. Back when they had records.

Irrespective of today's result, nothing much will change.

Liverpool will remain a club in a constant state of crisis.

"Oh my, how the mighty have fallen," a Man United fan told us in the Dog and Partridge bar. "They can sound off all they like and even throw human excrement at us in paper cups. .We've seen it all before We move on. They're mired in history and distant memories. Like some old man on his last legs. I hope Giggsy really puts it to 'em."

We'll bring you the latest updates as we get them.

Stay tuned.

Update:

LIVERPOOL 2 MANCHESTER UNITED 0

A bad day at Black Rock for United fans. In fact, the WORST day at Black Rock, but hey, always look on the bright side.
