image for Beach Ball Was Really Sammy Lee
Benitez switched to plan B.

The beach ball which scored the deflected goal at the Stadium of Light on Saturday was really Liverpool assistant manager Sammy Lee. Following a run of poor results Rafa Benitez had come up with what he thought was a cunning plan to get an extra player on to the pitch. He just needed someone who was fat and red enough. Enter Sammy Lee.

Lee spent two minutes disguising himself as a beach ball before bouncing onto the pitch. The plan was for Lee to be an extra defender and he took up his position in the Liverpool penalty box. Sadly Pepe Reina was unsighted as Sunderland attacked. As a shot was fired towards goal Lee stuck out his left arse cheek in a bid to clear the danger. Sadly the ball ballooned of his backside and into the back of the net.

Benitez immediately took Lee off, his plan now in tatters. Clearly the Liverpool manager could not protest too much about the goal as an investigation would have revealed Lee's presence on the pitch.

"He's fat, he's round his arse is on the ground, Sammy Lee, Sammy Lee."
