Following today's resolution of the Lancashire v Somerset T20 QF by a Bowl Out, the ECB are responding to disgruntled fans' feedback that this is a ludicrous way to resolve a match, especially bearing mind the financial implications of missing out on such events as the new Champions League, planned later in the year in India.
'After today, we agree with the spectators that the Bowl Out is just too hit and miss', said the ECB's Head of Hype, Mo Money.
The Bowl Out farce was seen as even more ludicrous as within hours, boiling hot sun was beating down on the Old Trafford Ground Staff as they bought the battered stumps used earlier back to life using a special brew of linseed oil and curry sauce from the nearby Lou Macari chippy. 'Why we couldn't have waited a bit longer is beyond me', the Head Groundsman remarked as he smeared spare curry sauce on the strip to be used for the next LVCC match.
The ECB would not be drawn on the new proposals for resolving similar situations in the future. However it is believed that suggestions for rival Chairmen to decide matters using the 1970's Subbuteo Table Cricket(International Version) were under consideration at Lord's.
More as we get it.
