Barcelona coach Pepe Guardiola was last night accused of being 'not very sporting' by observers, following the announcement from the Nou Camp that he is set to rest his ENTIRE first choice team for Saturday's La Liga clash with Osasuna, in the run up to the Champions League final in Rome.
Back in England, Sir Alex Ferguson has been threatened with legal action by Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and Sunderland - all relegation threatened - should he fail to field a strong eleven in the Hull City game on Sunday.
"Rule E20 states that every club must field its strongest side," Alan Shearer said yesterday. "And if that red-nosed Jock son of a bitch doesn't do that, we'll sue."
It is understood that United will field household names such as Darren Fletcher, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Park Ji Sung and Thomas Kuszczac in the Hull game.
Asked if he had a message for the Newcastle boss, Ferguson told us:
"I may inadvertently, on occasion, step in shit, but I certainly don't intend sending it messages."
More as we get it.
