image for Man City To Sign Lookalikees

Fed up Manchester City manager Mark Hughes says he's tired of wasting his efforts pursuing football's top names and will instead form a team made up entirely of lookalikees having this week signed the likes of Kaka, Ronaldo Messi and 1966 World Cup winner Sir Bobby Moore.

"We're delighted" claimed Hughes at a press conference where he unveiled new lookalikee goalkeeper Gordon Banks "The fans have been very patient but they're about to be rewarded with a team that will be the envy of the football world"

Jurgen Klinsmann,Franz Beckenbauer along with Geoff Hurst are all players set to be named in next weeks starting line up although the question remains can they produce the type of football that their namesakes are famous for.

"No" replied Hughes "We've had a little trouble at training explaining to some of the lookalikees how the game is played" he said "and unfortunately we had to let Eric Cantona go due to his habit of scoring goals for the other team and Jimmy Hill left after we realised we'd accidentally signed the real Jimmy Hill"

Hughes says that he feels his position as manager is under no pressure having received full backing from the club's board although some suggest this may not be the case after the appointment of a Sir Alex Ferguson lookalikee as his assistant.

"The pretend Sir Alex and I have developed a good working relationship" Hughes claimed "and the board has said my job is safe until at least the end of the season or until they find a convincing Mark Hughes lookalikee.Which ever comes first"
