There was an air of camaraderie at the KC Stadium today, as supporters of Hull City and Millwall, so long apart due to the latter's lowly status, renewed their old acquaintances, like only old friends can.
The two sets of 'football fans' have a long history of inter-fan friendship, and, despite the lack of get-togethers over the past few years, have managed to stay in touch by phone and emails.
City, currently standing tall in the Premier League, welcomed the Lions' fans for the FA Cup fourth round tie, and had organised a meeting before the game, during which pleasantries were exchanged.
Inside the ground, the two groups swapped gifts including bottles of beer and half-eaten sausage rolls with each other, over the segregation barriers in the East Stand, whilst police and stewards watched helplessly, amazed at the show of mutual respect.
One Millwall fan told our reporter:
"It was good to see the Hull fans again. They're such a lovely bunch of lads!"
