NBA game commentator Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of drinking and driving early Wednesday morning in Scottsdale, Arizona after the basketball legend was spotted allegedly running a stop sign around 1:30 a.m., according to Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler.
Barkley was given a blood test after he declined to submit to a breath test but the results have not been made public.
After he was booked and released he left in a cab, officer Shuhandler said, "He blamed Isiah Thomas for setting him up."
"He also had fun with my name, asking if I also sell shoes", added Shuhandler.
"He said he, Charles Barkley, wore regular tennis shoes even when playing basketball in the NBA."
"Then he said something like, 'To quote that genius, Charles Barkley, these tennis shoes I'm wearing are my regular shoes. They're good shoes. They won't make you rich like me, they won't make you rebound like me, they definitely won't make you handsome like me. They'll only make you have shoes like me. That's it. Go to Tennis Shoe World and don't pay no $200 like an idiot.'
