image for Bush to join US Olympic team
Bush, a noted baseball manager, will use his abilities to represent the US in the Olympics in Athens, Greece in August.

President George W. Bush announced his intent to join the United States Olympic Team at a White House press conference this morning.

The 57-year old Bush smiled as he explained his plan to join the team.

"I've already missed the trials, of course, but I mean, I'm the President. What are they gonna do?"

Bush said that he had plans to do "something challenging". He has narrowed his options to the marathon, the triple-jump and the 100-meter dash.

"I jog every day, so why not the marathon?" he said with a note of confidence.

He admitted that the 26.2-mile race was at the top of his list, but he would officially announce his event at the beginning of next week.

"I just want to get on that Sports Illustrated cover to boost young voter confidence before November." he said.
