Football's most wanted manager, Hull City's Phil Brown is thought to be about to shatter the record fee ever paid by Hull City. The clubs two previous million pound plus purchases, Dean Marney and Caleb Folan have proved their worth but if Hull City are two have any chance of survival, then the transfer record will have to go.
Phil Brown has what he describes as a competitive budget and three, possibly more more players are expected to be in the squad for the beginning or the new campaign. The urgency level was reduced recently when the fixtures were announced and with such an easy start, it is expected that Hull City will be in a European spot as a minimum, come the end of August, with or without new blood.
Peter Mafioso is the latest name to linked to the club and experts believe this one could be a go-er, based on indications such as club officials going on record saying they would be delighted to have him at the club. Subject to the deal being right for the club of course and having no desire to swim with the fishes, It may well be that they are persuaded to see it the way of mafioso's agent a mr Corleone of Scicily
It is confidently expected a deal will go through at just over the old record, plus add on's and bonuses yet to be decided.
Mafioso though will not be the end of it and while it likely the Mafioso deal will go through as a new record transfer fee. There is much speculation that a midfield purchase From a premiership rival based in the north of England, will make this one look like small change and is expected some time in the next 10 days.
This is likely to be the end of the major spending but it is thought likely that a couple of one year deals for a two out of work premiership defenders is a possibility. Purchasing a specialist left back should not be ruled out, but covering this vital position, so long seen by fans as the clubs only weakness, will not break the bank.
Many expect Hull City's tenure in the premiership to be a long one and it may well be decisions made now will decide which way it will go. Many feel getting this season over whilst staying up, will see them in the Premiership forever. If Big Phil can get that one under his belt, what chance the Tigers being able to hold onto him. As wise men say in the fair city of Ull Upon Umber.17th is VICTORY.
