image for Staunton admits lying to get job

Dundalk, Ireland - Stephen"Stan"Staunton, manager of the Rep.of Ireland football team, has sensationally admitted to lying in order to get the 500,000 euro per annum job, one of the most sought after posts in international football.

Speaking on local radio in his native Dundalk, after Saturday's disastrous draw with West Germany, one of footballs perennial minnows, Staunton admitted to firstly submitting a false C.V.

"I said in my C.V."Stan said"That I had started out as assistant coach to Boca Juniors in Argentina.Than I claimed to have coached Anderlecht in Belguim, before moving on to Feyonoord in Holland"

But that was not all.During the formal interview for the Irish job,Staunton said that"on the spur of the moment",he insisted tht he was currently coaching Bayern Munich.

"Why not?" said Stan in the radio interview "It worked didn't it?"

The interview conducted in the thick patois of Dundalk was only picked up on when a bi-lingual Dublin journalist heard the interview while on a Sunday drive with the wife and kids. Staunton has not yet made himself available for comment.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
