Hanging up his boots permanently? Fallen star David Beckham

Los Angele, California - (Asas Mess): LA Galaxy will dump David Beckham, their stellar new signing, "sometime over the weekend" according to soccer sources who say the former Real Madrid striker has ben a dead loss financially to the Los Angeles Club accruing liabilities in excess of $100 million over his initial signing fee.

"It's a disaster," a Major League Soccer source said today, "and could result in LA Galaxy going under."

The 32 year old player has scored only one goal for his club since signing up earlier this summer and has accrued the sort of bodily injuries that make a wheelchair-bound paraplegic a more attractive signing option.

"Yeah, and apart from that, he's lost two thirds of his hair this summer thanks to the Los Angeles smog," a MLS spokesman added, "not to mention most of his marbles as worried onlookers speculate if the Scientologists are about to suck him in along with his stick-insect wife Victoria!"

Beckham is also out of the next three England qualifying games in the 2010 World Cup amid reports that Steve McLaren has blamed the side's disastrous thrashing by the German team at Wembley this month on the 'hasbeen superstar'.

Internet spread-betting bookmakersAintgottaprayer.com are quoting odds of 11/10 that the former Man U number seven shirt will hang up his boots permanently by the end of next week.
