Epsom Downs - (Ass Mess): It's more a case of Epsom Salts than Epsom Downs for wannabe Derby champion Frankie Dettori who is up on the 4/5 favortie Authorised tomorrow, bidding to break his 15 year duck in this prime Blue Riband race.
"That odds-on price is daft," a betting industry insider said today.
"Dettori's got a fat chance of winning.
"First, the guy is clearly jinxed in his big race. Just look at his record.
"Second, couple of recent injuries mean he ain't racing fit.
"And third, Aidan O'Brien saddles up eight contenders. No way is he gonna let the little Italian poseur get away with the ultimate season's trophy.
"Trust me, it's a done deal."
Bookies go 8-1 on O'Brien's leading contender Archipenko after a decisive win of the Derrinstown Stud Trial at the Curragh and the booking of rider Mick Kinane.
Meanwhile the Marcus Tregoning-trained Aqaleem, ridden by Richard Hills, has been cited as "an absolute steal" at odds of 10/1 after a comfortable win this month of the Lingfield Derby Trial.
And another O'Brien-trained contender, Admiral of the Fleet, is looking a great price for a place at 16/1:
"He won last year's Royal Lodge Stakes impressively and has gone on to a decisive victory in this yar's Dee Stakes at Chester over 1m 2f.
"It would be daft not to have a pony each way at a price like that!"
