Hard, no-nonsense football manager Alex Ferguson is reported to be in negotiations with the manufacturers of Wrigley's chewing gum to land a major six-figure endorsement deal.
The Scottish firebrand, famous for continually chewing gum and slinging football boots around the changing rooms is reported to have been in Wrigley's sights now for at least six years.
A spokesman for the company said:
"If we could get Alex on-board, then that would be the icing on the cake for us. We see him as a positive role model for our product and hopefully it will take people's minds off the fact that all that sugar is bad for their teeth"
The Premiership club would make no comment to confirm or deny the story at this stage, but did say:
"Alex is his own man and we respect his right to speak to whoever he likes. Just so long as he doesn't stick used gum anywhere in the boardroom. Say, on the FA Cup, the Champions League Trophy, or something like that"
