LOS ANGELES - There is no joy in LakerLand as their super star Kobe Brayant has once again gotten hurt.
This time he received a fracture of his lateral tibial plateau as well as some bruising to his tongue.
The injury is not a good one for a 25-year-old much less for a 35-year-old who has already been playing in the NBA for 18 years.
Kobe seems to think that he is invincible and all he has to do is to put on his basketball shoes, his jersey, his athletic cup, and his shorts and voila - he's ready to perform big time.
Well ladies and gentlemen of all ages, as circus guru P.T. Barnum once said big time has left the building.
So sooner or later Kobe will have to face that fact like so many athletes before him have done.
He definitely does not want to embarrass himself like the great Muhammad Ali did when he stayed too long at the picnic and got to the point where even 4-foot-7-inch Snooki Polizzi could have whipped him in the boxing ring.
One of the Laker Girl cheerleaders was overheard saying to another cheerleader that she could guard Kobe with one hand stuck inside her bra.
But perhaps no one has stated it better than long time Laker fan 64-year-old Wallace Bluxer of Tarzana who said "It's just a damn good thing that Kobe isn't a horse."
