The football world was thrown into turmoil for the second time in a week today when a Manchester United fan called a radio phone-in to discuss the clubs bad run of form.
After the Roy Hodgson front page 'space monkey' story earlier in the week, many fans could not have expected a bigger shock for the rest of the season, let alone in the same week, but the incident happened around 5.34pm on Sunday. The season ticket holder rang in to moan about the bad start under David Moyes, with a draw against Southampton the latest in a run of calamitous results.
The fan gave his name as 'Terry' confirmed his postcode and landline phone-number to the phone-in researcher, who quickly informed producer and presenter. The fan then went on to give a detailed analysis of the teams problems, before confirming he had always lived in Manchester, and never visited or lived in Japan, Kenya or Surrey.
The incident quickly trended worldwide on twitter, with people from Africa saying 'OMG - a United fan who lives near to the ground. How strange!' Another from Asia commented 'feel sorry for Terry - he doesn't collect any Air Miles when he goes to a home game!'
