For the second transfer deadline day in a row, West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie was involved in a sensational rejection at the gates of a club he was desperate to sign for.
Last January, with the transfer window clock ticking down, the Nigerian international drove from West Midlands to London, only to be turned away at the gates of moneybags QPR's training ground, as WBA & QPR had not come to an agreement. R's boss Harry Redknapp sent his dog Rosie out to console Odemwingie, who broke down and confessed on twitter, that growing up in Russia, it was his lifetime ambition to step out on the pitch at Luftos (sic) Road wearing the green (sic) and white hoops.
This time round, Odemwingie drove through the night from the West Midlands, arriving in Madrid early this morning. Officials turned Odemwingie away, saying it was a special day in the clubs history, with the unveiling of Gareth Bale as a Galactico, and there was no space for the WBA striker, and also they hada never even heard of him. Odemwingie sat crying in his car for twenty-five minutes, before driving to the airport, dumping his Citreon 2CV6, and flying to Wales, for a possible last minute bale, sorry bail-out by Cardiff City.
