BOSTON-- Should the Celtics take Delonte West back for round three of the heavyweight fight?
West has done two tours of duty in Boston and didn't shoot anyone or take to the Prudential Tower in a fit of rage.
The Celtics have watched two point guards in reasonable good mental health go down for the season, and now the onus of scoring, playing, defending, has fallen to the old JET and new AB.
Whether Jason Terry or Avery Bradley is beyond the break down phase may be tested with extra minutes over the next few months. Courtney Lee looks robust and may be able to step into the breach, but Delonte could provide some needed oomph.
The decision may hinge on the veterans like Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett who hardly take lightly to the antics of a man off his meds.
The third vote would be Rajon Rondo who used to cringe whenever Delonte sat next to him on the bench during a game. But Rondo is now in Kentucky at the old homestead and unlikely to cast an absentee ballot. We presume he feels his mother is safe from West's Wet Willies.
The larger question of putting his fingers in your ear is whether the team hears no evil, sees no evil, nor speaks evil when it comes to the good of the team.
We would welcome the former guntoting, finger man, with the tattoos that put Mike Tyson to shame. Stir the pot, Celtics. Go West, Green Teamers.
