The former Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and England striker, 32, agreed a one-year deal with the Potters medical staff.
Following Wednesday's announcement, Owen wrote on Twitter: "It's official! Deal done. I'm a Stoke player. I can't wait to get going with the physio's."
Owen has won 89 caps and scored 40 goals for his country, although he has not played internationally since 2008.
He spent three seasons, mainly on the treatment table, at Manchester United, but somehow managed to play in 52 games, scoring 17 times.
He made just four appearances for the club last season.
Since his departure from Manchester United it had been reported that two physio's, a club doctor, and two massage therapists, had left the club, as they were deemed surplus to requirements.
It is believed they will all be offered one year deals at Stoke.
